Quick Mention: No Mono for IBM’s Standards Vice President
This new revelation isn’t particularly surprising given what we have already seen. Bob Sutor apparently can see what we see and therefore he rejects Mono and anything that depends on it.
My one caveat with it is that it either requires .Net or Mono. I’ve removed the usual Mono applications from my Ubuntu Linux installation and am somewhat loathe to put anything requiring it on the machine. (This is a personal choice, as I’ve mentioned before.) Anyone doing a Java version or alternative implementation that is open source?
What will happen when Novell releases Moonlight and Microsoft then claims that Linux has Silverlight support? Will all Linux users become Mono users and therefore liable for patent infringement, just as Microsoft’s patent deal with Novell seems to imply? The next post will discuss ‘Silverlight infestation’ on the Web. █
Highlight: Novell was the first to acknowledge that Microsoft FUD tactics had substance. Novell then used anti-Linux FUD to market itself. 
Highlight: Xandros let Microsoft make patent claims and brag about (paid-for) OOXML support. 
Highlight: Linspire's CEO not only fell into Microsoft arms, but he also assisted the company's attack on GNU/Linux. 
Highlight: Microsoft craves pseudo (proprietary) standards and gets its way using proxies and influence which it buys. 
Highlight: The invasion into the open source world is intended to leave Linux companies neglected, due to financial incentives from Microsoft. 
Analysis: Xen, an open source hypervisor, possibly fell victim to Microsoft's aggressive (and stealthy) acquisition-by-proxy strategy.

Funny… Bob Sutor can’t stop praising Second Life… and guess what that’s built on top of? Oh yea, Mono.

I like this trait, let’s just call anyone who opposes MONO a hypocrite. It will just save us from actually having to consider the topic seriously, and allows us to ignore the moonlight situation and all of MS’ attempts to enforce a tax using .net (whether it is an attack to Apache, web standards or mobile devices, .net is behind it).
BTW Lukas, you should probably read his blog again, there’s something you are missing…

That is very true, all the MS blogger and especially Brian Jones is attacking ODF, obviouslly to distract everyone from OOXML problems. We should find away to embarress them with this tactic…..

Some of it has to do with the wording the “journalists” choose. For

They will carry on portraying ODF as an “anti-Microsoft” something and use terms like “hypocrite” and “hater” to distract.

Yes, I saw that he is pining for a Java “backend” for Second Life, but he fails to understand how it all works. Second Life “scripts” are compiled into .NET IL, and so he’ll need a .NET VM regardless of whether someone writes a Java backend for it or not.
Also, as the server software for SL is built upon Mono, simply connecting to Second Life means you’re using something written on top of Mono. You can’t get away from it that easily.
Let’s also note that Bob Sutor isn’t exactly unbiased when it comes to Mono vs Java as IBM is a huge Java backer and obviously they compete very heavily with Microsoft (the backers of .NET), so it’s really not surprising that someone from IBM is going to tout Java over .NET.
In fact, I would be more surprised if someone from IBM didn’t bash Mono/.NET.
As far as ODF vs OOXML… who is portraying ODF as “anti-Microsoft”? News to me as I haven’t seen anyone say such a thing.
