Boycott Novell Crosses 3,000 Posts Milestone
Shane Coyle, the founder of this Web site, officially announced the site’s birth on November 13th, 2006. Today, almost exactly a year and a half later, Shane and I can proudly say that this is the 3,000th post. What a long ride it has been and how quickly it flew by!
Among the interesting statistics:
- Around 40% of this Web site’s readers use GNU/Linux
- The site’s Netcraft rank (for traffic) is 3,866th
- Noteworthy citations (links to our site) include: Forbes Magazine, Spiegel Online, front page of OpenOffice.org

Highlight: Novell was the first to acknowledge that Microsoft FUD tactics had substance. Novell then used anti-Linux FUD to market itself. 
Highlight: Xandros let Microsoft make patent claims and brag about (paid-for) OOXML support. 
Highlight: Linspire's CEO not only fell into Microsoft arms, but he also assisted the company's attack on GNU/Linux. 
Highlight: Microsoft craves pseudo (proprietary) standards and gets its way using proxies and influence which it buys. 
Highlight: The invasion into the open source world is intended to leave Linux companies neglected, due to financial incentives from Microsoft. 
Analysis: Xen, an open source hypervisor, possibly fell victim to Microsoft's aggressive (and stealthy) acquisition-by-proxy strategy.

The title/tagline of this site is a deterrent, so many people read without ever commenting. I know some journalists and managers who read it, which is good because it means the that ‘untold story’ is getting across too, bringing balance to a press that’s only fed by Novell and Microsoft PR machinery.

Truth be told, I probably have made up about 10% of the postings, so any and all congrats for what BN has become go to Mr Roy. I’m just the evil guy behind the curtain reaping all those adsense rewards these days - btw, can I get that in Euros? (US) Dollars aren’t worth anything anymore…
Regarding the BN name, I tell ya what, if (everyone, but mostly Roy) wants, I can always park another URL over this site so that both would work - Roy, would you want to also be known as the “Linux Colonel” (www.thelinuxcolonel.com) ? It’s a site name I never had the time for, (the story of my life), I could make this site ‘both’ essentially. Then, either way folks want to refer to the site will work.

Thanks, Shane. I might go away one day, so it’s good that there are two editors around.
Moving between domains is tricky not in the purely technical sense. It’s the side effects of it that cause a lot of problems, so we probably ought to just keep it as it is.

Any estimate how many of those were not only silly, simpy wrong or pure FUD? Maybe count those who got cited in reputable media.
