Other site news, I’m killing off (not renewing) boycottxandros.com and boycottlinspire.com due to total lack of interest - really, some months 0 hits, never double digits. Kinda like the non-uproar when they happened, y’know.

Also, funny as it was, SueMeLinux.com will probably soon sleep with the fishes as well. I did enjoy the "Disclosing Your Balance Sheet Liabilitie" tagline and charts, though.

That would make sense. The pages can probably be moved over to this domain.

If we can put everything in one place that will be great. We can ofcourse redirect the domain name to a particular section for xandros on this website while keeping the domain name..

Not a bad idea, the xandros and linspire sites always did redirect back here to their respective categories, but SueMe was it’s own baby but I think only 1 page total and a bunch of allocated disk space and bandwith.

This month, I have 12 sites that are up for renewal and these few just won’t make the grade it seems. (If I can get it under $100 maybe my wife won’t choke the shit out of me when she sees all the money I ‘waste’ on this newfangled interweb thing)

And, please, no one talk about blank CD’s. One month, I spent way too much on them and I still here about it. When she found out I gave them all away, she actually calmed down. weird.

    Heh. :-)

Well, I’ve just updated http://boycottnovell.com/related-sites/ . I know that GoDaddy will do a simply site redirection for a domain for just a few bucks. Not sure about domain registration though…

Redirecting is simple, one line in .htaccess or I can just park it over this site even. It’s managing all these domains, and trying to justify what I’m spending in a time of $700 (heating) oil bills last month.

Really, what I need to do is spin this stuff all off into it’s own ‘business’, too bad I’m an idiot with that stuff. The amount of money I lose each year, I could probably write off somehow, no?

Oh, well. I suck. I’ve said it before, but I’m a failure at this web thing from a business perspective. Then again, once last year I got a letter from some teacher of a class that was using Tux Paint on EDU-Nix - and it more than pays off ;^ )

If we could keep the domains, that would be brilliant. I hardly make ends meet myself, but I could help cover the costs. I still link to those topical domains sometimes (hard to protest against Linspire by linking to BoycottNovell*).

What I’ll do is, I’ll renew the 2 boycott- ones for a year, SueMe not so much. Maybe I’ll just transfer them (all) to you before BN comes up, this November or so, should you want ‘em.

I’ll take them happily. Just don’t let them expire and be taken over by cybersquat spam, which is embarrassing. This seems to have happened to the Comes vs Microsoft site. Maybe the Microsoft settlement (hundreds of millions) wasn’t enough money to leave it parked or make the court evidence available to us for longer . ;-)

and I didn’t explicitly say it, but I’ll continue to host these sites -gratis- “as long as is necessary” - kinda I’ll pay the hosting, while you keep the domains valid ‘partnership’, y’know?

You’ll have till November to scrounge up another $10 (what’s that, a Euro?), then these other 2 will come up again in June…

All done, we’re still actively boycotting Linspire and Xandros for another year…

Steven JVN used to tell me that he predicted all distros would have deals with Microsoft within a year. He was wrong, fortunately.
