GNU/Linux
- Laptop scheme draws flak
Said Omkar Ainapur, a lecturer who swears by Linux, “It is disheartening to note that the Goa government is promoting Microsoft Windows when the latest trend is to switch over to an open source software.”

That little Linux-powered laptop was so successful, though, that every major – and minor – computer maker has rushed its own similar model to market.

Highlight: Novell was the first to acknowledge that Microsoft FUD tactics had substance. Novell then used anti-Linux FUD to market itself.
Highlight: Xandros let Microsoft make patent claims and brag about (paid-for) OOXML support.
Highlight: Linspire's CEO not only fell into Microsoft arms, but he also assisted the company's attack on GNU/Linux.
Highlight: Microsoft craves pseudo (proprietary) standards and gets its way using proxies and influence which it buys.
Highlight: The invasion into the open source world is intended to leave Linux companies neglected, due to financial incentives from Microsoft.
Analysis: Xen, an open source hypervisor, possibly fell victim to Microsoft's aggressive (and stealthy) acquisition-by-proxy strategy.

Please lift the ban on tor users in #boycottnovell, I’m one of the good tor users who suggested you create the channel in the first place, I feel sad and lonely.. so sad and lonely.. please lift the ban, or instead just ban the PUBLIC tor users and NOT the tor gpg key users! the tor gpg key users may be seen with their gpg key as part of their cloak, these are the noticably good tor users who have taken the time to register on freenode with their gpg key and don’t cause problems for the network.
thank you

fresh fish for fresh penguins,
We blocked Tor because several foul-mouthed trolls used it to sabotage the channel. We’ve just reversed this ban.
Sorry to have thrown the baby out of with the bathwater.
