You should give Linux a try. If you are currently using MS Windows, you should download the .iso image, burn it to a CD, stick it in your optical drive and reboot the computer. You won’t have to install right away, unless you want. This way you can look at Linux and see what it’s all about. There’s more information here. Give it a shot and you’ll probably like what you see.

I love almost every vital part of Pardus. The system installer, the package manager, and the control center among others are all wonderfully crafted. I can tell that the developers took their time to really buff up this distro. I’m sorry to say though that Pardus is still pretty much underrated, because many distros are far more popular but are not as good as Pardus. I would highly recommend Pardus to just about anyone who is still searching for a fully featured, easy-to-use, and quality Linux distro.

A few days back, the New York Times online ran what was, for many, a sensational headline about Sun’s Solaris: “Is Sun’s Solaris on its deathbed?” While the piece was not written by its own staff, the fact that what many still consider to be a newspaper with some credibility ran with such a story did evoke plenty of reaction.

- Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid’s Theme
Ubuntu users were promised a radical new desktop theme with Ubuntu 8.04 and then that ended up getting postponed to the upcoming 8.10 release (a.k.a. the Intrepid Ibex). There was a new brown theme that had appeared early on in Intrepid but many users were dissatisfied with this work and Canonical ended up reverting the theme to that of Ubuntu 8.04 and earlier. Though with the Intrepid artwork final deadline passing last week, what does the desktop look like in the Ubuntu 8.10 Beta release due out this week? Here are some screenshots.
