Seems Red Hat is also down 7% (more than Microsoft, which is actually only down 6.74%), as are IBM (down 5%) and Sun Microsystems (down 10.45%).

I’m not sure you can say it leaves them in a “good position”.
Debian and the FSF are funded as well, and the fact that they’re set up as American non-profits doesn’t insulate them from the financial problems.
