Microsoft’s Home State is Running Out of Money While Microsoft Avoids Paying Tax
Summary: Washington warns that it may go broke within months, which brings back to the table Microsoft’s massive tax dodge (over a billion dollars in this state)
MICROSOFT IS not paying the tax it must pay in Washington, but it has taxpayers pay for a new Microsoft bridge, for example, right there in Washington. This type of behaviour upsets former Microsoft employee Mr. Reifman, who shows that Washington is going broke. From the Seattle Times:
Washington state government is in danger of running out of money if the Legislature fails to act quickly, state Treasurer Jim McIntire says.
“With no improvement in the state’s overall cash position, the entire state treasury could be depleted as soon as September 2010,” McIntire said in a letter sent to the governor and legislative leaders last month.
The Legislature ought to force companies like Microsoft to actually pay taxes. They can start by collecting what Microsoft has avoided paying over the years. Microsoft does not mind if the country goes up in flames as long as Ballmer and his minions continue to hoard cash and enjoy the benefits of potentially-unconstitutional tax exemptions (Gates needn’t pay taxes either because he found loopholes that he is exploiting). There is increasing poverty near Microsoft's campus, including tent cities. This demonstrates the injustice.
As in any situation where the corporations control the press, people hardly get access to this information, which is true. Take EveryBlock for example. A few months ago we showed Microsoft and NBC taking over such an independent site [1, 2] and now we find this update from Joseph Tartakoff:
Hyperlocal news aggregator EveryBlock is making its first big move since being purchased by MSNBC.com over the summer: Visitors to the site will now be able to write up announcements of their own, which will show up along with EveryBlock’s existing automated blurbs which are pulled from local municipal sources and news sites.

The speculation about Gates and Ballmer wanting the US to go up in flames would be supported or disproved if more details of the meeting between Gates and Hu were published. In a flagrant show of disrespect to the Office of the President, Hu’s first visit snubbed the Whitehouse until after a meeting with Gates.
But even without that, there are a lot of telltales that do back the ideal that Gates and Ballmer wanting the US to go up in flames:
- the voting machine scandals, made possible by three levels of MS prodcuts
- the onging malware catastrophes, made only possible by political and illegal pressure to keep functional systems out of the market.
- the ongoing disasters, such as air traffic control collapse, traceable to malfeasants putting MS products into mission-critical roles
etc.

I very much doubt that Gates is ‘colluding’ with China (makes little sense) despite his China connections at the Gates Foundation and Ballmer’s near-appointment as China ambassador (McCain’s idea), but clearly they are after their own interests, namely money and power.

In recard to the latter, I could comment on air traffic control and the FAA. First, in the 90’s, before the days of “homeland” security, the FAA was known from the perspective of federal contracting as a “dirty agency”, and in fact the worst. While I had known contracting officers from a number of different federal agencies at the time (the company I was engineering director for sold GNU/Linux servers to manage high-end Fujitsu switching equipment, along with said switches, among other things) who were stubborn and sometimes stupid, most seemed to actually have high ethical standards nontheless.
Until the FAA, we certainly never encountered any that were dishonest. The FAA was the first time I encountered someone who expected a bribe to get a contract. This was not unique, as another time one had a wife he had setup as a 8a qualified firm, and noted if we sub’d through his wife, to which he could then legally give preferential treatment to.
Strangely enough I learned many years later the FAA tac centers use RedHat, mostly for the system which also shows all the planes in the air that some TV newscasts use. That display is actually drawn on X. So apparently some parts of the FAA does honest work.

Do you think that all the 90 thousand employees do not pay income tax ? or that there is not a GST or VAT type tax on every purchase.

It’s both! Amazing but true, a company can avoid taxes and still not make enough money to support itself. As Roy has noticed, the state of Washington is looking a decade’s worth of skipped taxes. Instead of paying up, Microsoft is arrogantly demanding a bridge be built so that their employees can get to the new Microsoft Mall. I’m not sure payment in full of Microsoft’s tax evasion will save the state from running out of money, but I’m entirely sure that Microsoft should spend its own money building and maintaining a bridge between two pieces of Microsoft property.

mabey someone should lodge a complaint with the IRS and the charity commision regarding the FSF’s misappropriation of funds and breaches of their mission statement.
Then the FSF can be a “convicted criminal” as well.

Either FSF revise their “mission statement” or have their charity status revoked. And stop them lieing about their real motives and goals.

Oh, I see, you don’t understand how the Bad Vista and Windows Seven Sins campaigns are promoting free software use. That’s easy to clear up.
The idea behind most Windows criticism is show how non free software owners abuse users as a way of explaining the benefits of free software. All non free software has its problems but Microsoft’s are numerous and glaring enough to create whole websites. The problems that the FSF points at are problems non free software will never have.
These websites are only a small part of what the Free Software Foundation does, but it’s important documentation. Sadly, their reach is tiny next to the massive hype machine of newspapers, trade rags and TV broadcast that Microsoft has purchased. Lawyers work to defend copyleft software and activists organize and other important work goes on all the time. There are lots of good things people’s donations to the Free Software Foundation buys.

My point of the reference to propaganda, is that you make claims (ROY) about MS dodging taxes, because they have offices in different locations, (and even different countries).
But when I say (and prove) that the FSF also seeks to dodge taxes, and does so by providing false claims as their mission statement, and at the same time misappropriating the donated funds to wage their own propaganda campain.
