The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

Same here. I could never really figure out what belonged where anyways.

I'm still sort of lukewarm about leaving them off of the official CD's.
For example, if we leave off the Netscape installer - people will
be constantly bombarding debian-user with questions about how to
install Netscape.

Plus there is some stuff that is in the process of becoming free
software, but hasn't quite made it yet. One example I'm thinking of
is the "kaffe" java virtual machine, which needs the Java class files
from Sun. There is a set of "kore" classes being developed, so it
will eventually be unencumbered (maybe). But if we refuse to distribute
it - then we are robbing it of users, some of whom may have been interested
in helping out making it totally free. I'm sure there are other examples.

So maybe we do need a special category for things that are non-free,
but we would still like to distribute - as part of an effort to make
them totally free.

Cheers,

 - Jim
