Bonum Certa Men Certa

Rest Assured the Linux Foundation Does Not Really Speak for Linux (Not Anymore)

Summary: The employer of Linus Torvalds, who remains the trademark holder of "Linux", is clearly aligned against the goals of Linux as a project and as a community

THE Linux Foundation, as noted in the above video, came about after OSDL had blown up. The Linux Foundation claims to be older than it really is (the University of Manchester does the same thing for that matter, cherry-picking historical dates) and within only a few years it lost its direction. Today, in 2022, the Linux Foundation's Board of Directors is almost 90% corporate and more than 80% proprietary companies (mostly 'suits' who don't even use GNU/Linux). Judging by the way things change every year, the Board might be over 90% corporate some time soon (maybe as soon as next year) because they literally sell seats on the Board. They even market it that way (we showed evidence of this before, based on their own words). You pay for a certain membership tier and in exchange you get to exercise control over Linux and more.

"It's indisputable at this point that it's just a front group or a shell of very affluent companies, some of them not even American."It's quite frankly a miracle that the IRS still lets this thing go on without having to pay any taxes. It's indisputable at this point that it's just a front group or a shell of very affluent companies, some of them not even American.

I've said a lot more in the video above as I commented, one by one, on the 26 members of the Linux Foundation's Board of Directors. Even outside the Board, in the management team of the Linux Foundation, there are prominent Microsofters.

There is no simple soluton or quick 'fix' to this sordid mess. The Linux Foundation buying positive media coverage about the Linux Foundation (in essense corrupting the media) leads to a different kind of backlash and other sorts of scandals, as we've noted here before. They also run afoul of rules, which means they can get banned.
